Join LIFE Senior Services for a three-hour seminar where we’ll delve into the important topic of ethical considerations when working with older adults navigating mental health challenges. Throughout our session, we’ll explore the prevalence of mental health disorders, including substance use and abuse, and highlight the essential need for mental health care among older populations. Additionally, we’ll shed light on the stigmas faced by older adults, which often hinder equitable access to care. Together, we’ll define and tackle the ethical dilemmas associated with substance abuse and severe mental illness in this demographic, with the aim of enhancing professional competency in dealing with dementia and distinguishing it from other mental health conditions. ABOUT ERIN POWELL, LPC
Erin Powell is a dedicated and accomplished Licensed Professional Counselor with nearly 15 years of working with older individuals who have Alzheimer’s and dementia and their families. She is the Caregiver Support Specialist at LIFE Senior Services providing consultation and counseling services to anyone who finds themselves in the role of caregiver. In addition to her work as an LPC, Erin is a fully-licensed and board-certified art therapist and a gifted speaker and trainer.
